Dad: Why do you think they do that?
Girl: Because the companies who make these try to trick the girls into buying the pink stuff instead of stuff boys want to buy.

that awkward moment when a child understands the harm of forcing gender roles better than most grown male politicians.

Always reblog.

It’s amazes me how eloquently she lays down the situation

I think a man can appreciate a woman far more than a boy can appreciate a girl. I think, as an older guy, you become a better listener. You become more aware of a human relationship with a woman – say, maybe, a romantic one (that’s one of many relationships you can have with a woman). You realise you’re half of it. You’re not 20%, where you don’t have to check in, but you’re not 80% where it’s all about you. There’s another human being that you must respect as you respect yourself. That’s what I’ve learned over the years, with more laps around the track. A man needs a lot of time, and help pulling his head out of his ass, and women are there to go “Ugh, again? Okay.” They do that very well, if the guy’s smart enough to listen.

Awww! Getting off the bus after grocery shopping, I find this cute little Pitbull puppy walking around, and she starts sniffing at me. With the collar, she definitely belongs to someone, but there was no tag at all.
It’s cold tonight, and I couldn’t leave her there, and she seemed hungry. So I carried her a good quarter mile or so with my bags of food (which I definitely regretted forgetting my backpack at that point) and brought her inside.
I didn’t have much food, but I did have some chicken flavored rice leftovers that she demolished, and then I fed her some bread and tortillas which she duly ate up too. I had a frozen chicken patty I heated up and broke up and she liked that too.
She’s curled up on my bed right now, pretty passed out. She was trembling when I was carrying her, and knows to sit and what have you. Although she peed on my living room floor before! Thankfully my whole place is tiled so it was an easy clean up. But dammit!
I called Animal Control here in Austin, and they’ll be picking her up in the morning. They had the option of me caring for her while they try to find the owners, I suppose like fostering. But I just really don’t know if I can handle taking care of a puppy.
But I dunno, she’s so damn cute! Even if it’d be damn near impossible to keep her in this apartment, I feel like by the time the morning comes and they want to pick her up, I might say to let her stay with me until they can figure out who she belongs to… although I have no idea how she’ll behave if I’m not in the apartment.
I put her outside after she peed since I was annoyed, and she ran around a bit and kept coming back to my door and window there to whimper and beg and cry.
At least she likes me, right?
